HPS Grow Lights
Due to the red/orange spectrum of the light they emit, high pressure sodium (HPS) bulbs or lamps are the right choice for encouraging better flowering and fruiting of plants in a controlled environment. The drawback is their lack of blue spectrum light which dictates some form of supplemental lighting during other phases of plant growth where natural light is not available.
HPS bulbs are more efficient than a standard incandescent grow lamp putting out more light per watt of energy consumed. Because they are so efficient, they are often used in greenhouses where they can suppliment natural light. They are also very durable and can sometimes last up to two years.
